Hi To All Prospective Macedon Cats Junior Female Footballers (and parents and guardians of course),

We have some exciting news.

Kate Darby, a local Macedon woman and AFLW star for the Geelong Cats will be at Greene St Oval this Sunday morning December 1’st at 10.30 AM, to help us launch female football for the Macedon Cats Junior Football Club.

AND

The Herald Sun is sending a photographer to get some pictures and they will write a story about Kate helping the Cats launch female football. We will be in the paper next week!

So we’ll keep this really simple and short:
• We are welcoming all junior and youth girls to come and join us on Sunday
• If you come along it does not mean you are committing to play next year, we just hope to meet you . Have a chat to Kate and also Tamara Collins the U18’s coach about next year.
• We have strong interest and numbers in the U18’s and are most likely to have a team next year but still need more girls
• We have interest in younger age groups but who knows, we might get an influx of names for 13’s and 15’s over summer, or on Sunday?
• The most important thing – it does not matter if you have not played footy before. It does not matter if you cannot kick like an AFLW champion. We have great coaches who can teach you. I have watched my own daughter go from zero to hero (don’t tell her I said that) in a few years of footy.
• The next AFLW star from Macedon will be there on Sunday…is it you?
• Wear a tracky and runners, we’ll have a kick, some shots at goal, a few handballs and a chance for everyone to meet each other, pretty relaxed.
• It is going to be cold so if you can wear a long sleeve top/hoody (borrow a Cats hoody if you can, or steal your brothers) and we will bring a Cats jumper for you to wear over the top for a photo with the Herald Sun
• Finally we would really like to know if you are coming along so please respond by email to Kate Lawrence above. Kate has been a part of the junior club for many years and is the Female Football Operations Manager for 2020.
