MJFC Approach to Coronavirus

15 Mar 2020 by Ash Cook

Hi Macedon Cats Families,

As I am sure you are aware, the Coronavirus situation is having a pronounced impact on many aspects of our lives including the cancellation of sporting activities and events at local, national and international level.

At this stage the current position of the AFL and the RDFNL is that season 2020 will be proceeding, and we will await further updates. The MJFC acknowledges that this is a highly dynamic circumstance which is changing on a daily basis and as a result, the committee has been meeting today and believe that it is prudent for us to take a more cautious approach at this time in setting the most appropriate response for our club and community.

As such we have made a few calls today:

1. Cancel Mouthguard Man (scheduled for March 16 (tomorrow))
2. Cancel the Season Kick-off Event (scheduled for March 22, next Sunday)
3. Place pre-season training on pause for this week, pending further information and guidance.

We will be monitoring progress and guidance during the week and will also be in direct discussion with the RDFNL regarding season 2020.

The committee does not take these decisions lightly and we are united in our commitment to club values and our focus on the welfare of our players and our community.

We thank you for your understanding and support at a highly unusual time.

Cheers,

Nick

President
