Footy Update

1 Apr 2020 by Nick Lynch

Hi Macedon Cats Families,

On behalf of the committee we hope you are all well – what was previously a courteous greeting now takes on an entirely new meaning.

Hopefully the loud washing machine on spin cycle in the new laundry home office is not affecting video conferences too much or that you are actually learning how to use a PS4 or Xbox controller.

A quick note on footy with more to follow – the committee has been catching up (via video conferencing) and we wanted to share a few important things. Firstly, there is no further update to this year’s season at this time. The League has had to stand staff down and keep on skeleton staff which clubs will fund and the committee has agreed to.

On the important matter of registration fees, both the AFL and the RDFNL have advised clubs to hold on to these funds until a further update on the season is provided in May. We have decided to take this advice in the hope that some aspect of our season may be salvaged, however we are aware that some families may be having a difficult time at present. Please reach out to a member of the committee if you are in need of a refund.

Committee caught up again tonight via video conference to discuss and consider the bigger picture on how we as a club and community can have a positive impact. Everything from how coaches might influence kids to get outside and exercise, through to how we can support sponsors who might be doing it tough. Probably most importantly how we can band together to look after those in our club and community who are having a hard time. Stay well Cats families.

Cheers,

Nick
